As presented in the SRD, Goblins make considerably weaker characters than other LA +0 races, and Hobgoblins are weak for LA +1 races. Here I present modified versions of both, intended to bring them more in line with other equivalent races. I will also include my rendition of Azerothian goblins.


Goblins as PCsEdit

  • +4 DEX, -2 STR, -2 CHA. Goblins are small and unimposing, but very quick.
  • Size S (+1 AC and attack, +4 Stealth, -4 grapple, 3/4 lift, carry, and air usage)
  • Move 30'
  • +4 racial bonus to Ride.
  • +2 racial bonus to Athletics (or Climb).
  • Darkvision 60'
  • Dirty Fighting: A goblin gets +1 to hit a target denied its DEX bonus. This stacks with bonuses due to flanking.
  • Automatic Languages: Common and Goblin. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Elven, Gnoll, Giant, Orc.
  • Favored Class: Rogue


Hobgoblins as PCsEdit

  • +2 DEX, +2 CON, -2 CHA. Hobgoblins are tough and quick, but still possess something of a group mind.
  • Size M
  • Move 30'
  • +4 racial bonus to Stealth (or Move Silently)
  • Military Discipline: Whenever a Hobgoblin receives a morale bonus to attack or damage rolls, it gains an additional +1.
  • Automatic Languages: Common and Goblin. Bonus Languages: Draconic, Dwarven, Infernal, Giant, Orc.
  • Favored Class: Fighter

Azerothian GoblinsEdit

These goblins are designed to resemble the more mercantile goblins that appear in World of Warcraft and other games.

  • +2 DEX, +2 INT, -4 STR
  • Size S
  • Move 20'
  • Low-light vision
  • +2 racial bonus on Open Lock, Disable Device, Appraise and Negotiation
  • Automatic Languages: Orcish and Goblin. Bonus Languages: Taurahe, Gutterspeak
  • Favored Class: Rogue
